Intersections Media and the Red Licorice Media Social Enterprise

 

Intersections Media is a non-profit, digital filmmaking skills development program that is operating in the downtown eastside of Vancouver. Participants in our program are youth with multiple barriers to employment who come to us from across the lower mainland.

 

Red Licorice Media is a social enterprise established by Intersections to produce corporate videos for local clients on a fee for service basis. In addition to providing a valuable service to our community and private sector clients, Red Licorice Media plays an important role within our digital filmmaking skills development program by introducing “real world” applications for our program participants.

 

Working as support crew for a professional filmmaker, participants are exposed to the entire process of creating, filming and delivering to our clients a professional video product. Youth crews are composed of graduates of our Digital Film Workshop.

Our goal is to make every Red Licorice project a win-win situation, with clients provided a professionally produced product that meets their needs, and our participants provided jobs and invaluable work experience. In addition, revenues from these projects contribute to the financing of programs within Intersections.
